Professional profile

Nicola Pozzato is deputy head of three laboratories that conduct clinical diagnostics, official food control, molecular biology, serology, and clinical bacteriology activities in animal health and welfare at IZSVe, SCT1 Verona and Vicenza.

His research interests regard paratuberculosis, with reference to disease control and diagnostics, host pathogen interactions in intestinal inflammatory disease of cattle, diagnostics for the detection of viral respiratory infections of cattle.

His laboratory is currently involved in a European network for the improvement of the differential diagnosis between bovine tuberculosis and paratuberculosis. His research activities also include collaborations with the Department of Molecular medicine of the University of Padua, the Parco Tecnologico Padano of Lodi in relation to host-pathogen interactions in paratuberculosis, and the School of Veterinary medicine at University College Dublin on micro-RNA characterization in paratuberculosis infection of cattle.
