Professional profile
Karin Trevisiol graduated in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Parma in 1985 and earned a diploma at the School of Scientific Research in Brescia in 1989. She has been veterinary assistant for large animals for the local health authority in Bolzano, and worked then as officer veterinarian in animal health and meat hygiene. From 1999, she is responsible of the Clinical diagnostic Laboratory of the IZSVe – SCT6 Bolzano.
She coordinates and attends to clinical pathology activities for the diagnosis of domestic animals and wildlife fauna, in particular anatomical pathology, diagnostic microbiology and parasitology. She contributes in current researches in the field of wildlife diseases and wild game meat hygiene. She participates in the ongoing research project IZS VE 12/11 “Survey on prevalence of coagulase-positive methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus spp. in livestock productions (breeding pigs, dairy cattle, calves for white meat), and in pet animals in North-Eastern Italy”.
She also cooperates with wildlife forest and wildlife Provincial authorities in the sanitary management and emergencies regarding wild animals and holds partnership with other public veterinary Institutes and with the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) for the diagnostic laboratory field.
