Professional profile
Ilenia Drigo is a senior biologist at the SCT2 – Treviso and Belluno Territorial Unit of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe).
She earned her degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Trieste in December 2001 and passed the state board examination to practice as a biologist at the same university in December 2003. She continued her post-graduate training on a research fellowship at the Burlo Garofolo Hospital for four years, working on a project focused on glucocorticoid resistance and hypersensitivity in paediatric patients. In 2006, she joined IZSVe as a biologist in the molecular biology laboratory at SCT2. In September 2011, she completed a specialization diploma in Microbiology and Virology at the University of Padua.
Her work involves applying molecular biology techniques to the diagnosis of viral and bacterial diseases and the molecular characterization of pathogenic bacterial strains, including potential zoonotic strains. Within her area of expertise, she leads scientific research projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Health and collaborates on international research projects dedicated to the study of animal botulism.
