Margherita Soncin is a senior veterinary officer at the SSDT3 – Padua and Vicenza Unit of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe).
She works at the Laboratory Medicine Laboratory of the IZSVe’s headquarter in Legnaro (Padua), where she is involved in diagnostic, consultancy and research activities, with a particular focus on internal medicine and laboratory diagnostics in cattle.
She graduated in veterinary medicine from the University of Teramo in 2022. At the same university, obtained a postgraduate specialization in inspection of foods of animal origin in 2025. She also obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and Technology from the University of Padua in 2015.
After an initial professional experience on cattle farms, in 2022 she joined the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe) as a research fellow, focusing on the evaluation of the intramammary use of platelet lysates in dairy cattle. She subsequently developed expertise in the main fields of veterinary laboratory medicine, including clinical chemistry, haematology, immunology, metabolic profiles, electrophoresis and coagulation, as well as microbiology and veterinary pathology. Within veterinary diagnostics, she is involved in the diagnosis of metabolic, endocrine and haematological disorders in farm and companion animals, as well as in the assessment of animal welfare and the study of immune responses.
She participates in multidisciplinary research projects involving farm, companion and non-conventional animal species. She also provides technical and scientific support for the institution’s activities, with particular reference to animal welfare. Her main professional interests include herd metabolic profiling and the integration of laboratory results with clinical and management data to assess animal health and support herd health management.
