Professional profile
Laura Bille is a senior veterinary officer at SCS3 – Ecosystems Unit of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe).
She graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 2010 and qualified to practice the profession that same year. In 2013, she earned a specialization in “Breeding, Hygiene, Pathology of Aquatic Species, and Control of Derived Products.” Since 2010, she has been working on research projects related to food safety and animal health in aquatic species.
Her research interests focus primarily on animal health and food safety in aquaculture, with a particular emphasis on toxicology and the ecology of chemical contaminants in fishery products. She is also dedicated to the epidemiological study of intentional animal poisoning.
Her work primarily involves research activities, and she participates in various national and international projects and collaborations. She sits on regional working groups for the application of EU food safety regulations in the bivalve mollusk sector as an expert in evaluating monitoring plan results. Furthermore, she prepares the annual reporting required by the respective European Reference Laboratories on behalf of the National Reference Centre for the Study and Diagnosis of Fish, Crustacean and Mollusc Pathology.
She is the author and co-author of several scientific publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles and proceedings from national and international conferences.
