Professional profile
Veronica Cibin is a senior veterinary officer at SCS7 – Health Policy Development Unit at the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe).
She earned her degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2000 and her PhD in 2003 from the University of Padua. In 2009, she completed a postgraduate specialization diploma in Inspection of Foods of Animal Origin at the University of Bologna. Since late 2003, she has worked at IZSVe in the field of foodborne zoonoses epidemiology, focusing particularly on Salmonella spp. and data management for risk assessment purposes.
Her research activities center on food safety, encompassing the collection, management, and analysis of microbiological hazard data, with a specific emphasis on zoonotic Salmonella strains. She also handles epidemiological aspects related to antimicrobial resistance indicators and the evaluation of resistance profiles in livestock farms.
Since 2009, she has been a member of the Zoonoses Monitoring Data Network at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). She collaborates with the Italian Ministry of Health in defining the technical and scientific frameworks for the National Control Plan for Salmonellosis in Poultry (PNCS). She is part of national and regional working groups aimed at establishing criteria to optimize PNCS implementation. Furthermore, she serves as an expert for the Ministry of Health in evaluating national data on Salmonella isolated from animals, food, and feed collected via the SINZOO system.
