Professional profile
Monia Cocchi is a senior veterinary officer at the SCT4 – Udine and Pordenone Territorial Unit of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe).
After the degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Bologna University, she completed a postgraduate specialization diploma in Animal Health, Livestock Breeding, and Production at the same University, as well as a postgraduate specialization diploma in Breeding, Hygiene, Pathology of Aquatic Species, and Control of Derived Products at the University of Udine. She is currently attending a 2nd-level Professional Master’s program in Dairy Production Medicine at the University of Perugia.
Her work focuses primarily on laboratory diagnostics in dairy cattle pathology and small animals, with a particular emphasis on necropsy and microbiological testing. Her research focuses on the in vitro study of biofilms formed by veterinary pathogens. The clinical diagnostic laboratory also carries out diagnostic activities in aquatic species.
She serves as operational unit head for targeted research projects on antimicrobial resistance, biofilm formation, and biofilm-eradicating concentrations in veterinary pathogens. She has been involved in the Interreg Bio-Crime Italy-Austria project and is a member of the Mycotoxin Observatory as well as the Sea Turtle Commission for the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.
