Professional profile
Debora Dellamaria is a senior veterinary officer at the SCT5 – Trento Territorial Unit of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe).
She obtained her degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Padua in 2003. In 2006, she completed a postgraduate specialization diploma in Inspection of Foods of Animal Origin at the same institution, followed in 2010 by a specialization in Animal Health, Breeding, and Livestock Production from the University of Bologna. She has been working at IZSVe since 2004, initially at the virological and serological diagnostics laboratory in Padua, and since 2009 at the SCT5 peripheral structure in Trento.
Her work mainly focuses on the diagnostics of diseases in domestic ruminants and Alpine wildlife. She contributes to the annual reports for the BVD (Bovine Viral Diarrhoea) and paratuberculosis control plans in the Autonomous Province of Trento. She serves as principal investigator and operational unit head for research projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Health. In 2014, she was appointed a member of the Provincial Wildlife Observatory of the Autonomous Province of Trento. She is the author and co-author of several scientific publications and national and international conference proceedings.
Her research interests centre on the diagnosis of infectious diseases in large animals, with a particular focus on small ruminants. She is currently developing her interest in veterinary epidemiology applied to the design and management of control plans for infectious livestock diseases. To further expand her expertise in this field, she completed the “Veterinary Epidemiology” course at Utrecht University in 2011.
